Rollover Crash in Gorman Kills 16-Year-Old Girl and Injures 5 Other Teens

 
GORMAN, CA (May 23, 2021) – Emmarose Sanders was killed in a rollover accident in Gorman early Friday morning, May 21.
 
The accident happened just before 1:00 a.m. on northbound 5 Freeway at 138 Freeway, just south of Gorman School Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, 19-year-old Daniel Madsen of Riverbank was driving a pickup truck with five other teenagers.
 
For unknown reasons, Madsen had abruptly turned his car to the right as he drove down the highway. The car collided with the asphalt curb and traveled down an embankment. It then overturned, ejecting the deceased victim.
 
Sanders suffered multiple traumatic injuries and died at the scene. She was a 16-year-old Modesto resident, according to the coroner’s office.
 
Meanwhile, the five other teens including Madsen were injured. Paramedics took them to local hospitals for treatment.
 
Three girls were from Modesto, and one girl was from Oakdale.
 
Investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs was a factor in the crash.
