Cargo Van Passenger Dies in Crash on 215 Freeway in Murrieta

 
MURRIETA, CA (December 10, 2021)Elliot Uhrich died in a rear-end accident on 215 Freeway in Murrieta, late Monday evening.
 
The accident happened just before 10:30 p.m. on December 6, along the southbound side of the freeway north of Los Alamos Road. According to the CHP, Uhrich was a passenger in a medical transport van, driven by 47-year-old Angel Pineda of Murrieta.
 
The van was in the third lane of the freeway and was traveling at approximately 60 mph. Pineda encountered slowing traffic and applied the brakes, when the vehicle veered to the right, toward the right shoulder. The van then struck the left rear of a parked 2009 Nissan Maxima, occupied by a Temecula man.
 
As a result, Uhrich suffered major injuries. Paramedics rushed him to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, where he died nearly five hours later. He was a 75-year-old Murrieta resident, according to the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner’s Bureau.
 
Pineda sustained minor injuries and was taken to Rancho Springs Medical Center in Temecula.
 
Meanwhile, the Nissan driver was unharmed.
 
At this time, this fatal crash is still under investigation.
