UPDATE: Ellen Le Killed in Bicycle Accident on Mines Road at San Antonio Valley Road [Livermore, CA]

Fatal Bicycle-Car Accident in Livermore, Ellen Mai Le Identified

 
LIVERMORE, CA (February 16, 2022) – Police confirmed that one person died after her bicycle and an SUV collided on Mines Road on February 6.
 
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 49-year-old Fremont resident Ellen Mai Le.
 
Around 2:30 PM, a Land Rover traveled southbound and a bicyclist rode northbound on Mines Road south of San Antonio Valley Road. As the Land Rover entered a right-to-left curve in the roadway, the driver allowed the vehicle to drift over the center divider lines by approximately one to two feet.
 
The bicyclist – identified as Le – entered this same curve in the roadway, from the opposite direction. While negotiating through the curve, the bicycle crossed over the solid divider lines. As a result, the SUV and bicycle collided head-on, according to police.
 
Le was knocked off her bicycle and struck the ground, causing major injuries. She died due to her injuries.
 
The SUV driver, a 27-year-old man whose identity has not been released, was reportedly uninjured.

Neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be factors in the crash based on the evidence thus far. The fatal collision remains under investigation by CHP-San Jose.
