Pleasanton Teacher and Her Mother Die after Car Goes Over Cliff at Bodega Bay

 
BODEGA BAY, CA (April 9, 2021)Elizabeth Correia and her mother Maria Teixeira died after their car went over a steep coastal cliff in Bodega Bay Saturday morning, April 3.
 
The accident happened around 11:00 a.m. at the West Bodega Head Trail parking lot. Teixeira, a 64-year-old Dublin resident, was driving a silver Toyota RAV4 with his daughter Correia. As she entered the parking lot, the SUV continued to drive west without slowing down or stopping, hitting a log barrier at the edge of the cliff.
 
After hitting and moving the barrier, the Toyota continued before plunging over the cliff.
 
As a result, both women died at the scene, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office.
 
Correia, a 41-year-old Dublin resident, was a Pleasanton Unified School District teacher for 16 years, while Teixeira worked as lead custodian at Montevideo Elementary in San Ramon.
 
Authorities are still investigating the accident.
