73-Year-Old Bicyclist Dies after Crash with Pickup Truck in Oxnard

 
OXNARD, CA (February 2, 2021) – An elderly man died in a bicycle accident Tuesday morning on Oxnard, police said.
 
The accident happened around 8:15 a.m. on northbound Rice Avenue, just south of Fifth Street.
 
According to police, 73-year-old Eliseo Ramirez of Oxnard was riding his Schwinn bicycle on the northbound side of the right shoulder of Rice Avenue. At the same time, a 49-year-old Oxnard woman was driving a 1999 Dodge Ram pickup truck in the same direction.
 
For unknown reasons, Ramirez traveled into the path of the truck and the collision occurred.
 
Arriving paramedics pronounced Ramirez dead at the scene.
 
The woman driving the Dodge stayed and cooperated with authorities.
