Car Catches Fire along Highway 74 in Palm Desert Killing 40-Year-Old Man
PALM DESERT, CA (May 2, 2022) – Elijah Butler was killed in a fiery accident on Highway 74 in Palm Desert on Saturday morning.
The fatal accident happened around 10:45 a.m. on April 30, at Palowet Drive. According to the Riverside County Fire Department, a vehicle went off the roadway and burst into flames. It fell about 200 to 300 feet over the side of the road.
Butler, a 40-year-old Indio resident, died at the scene.
It is unclear at this time if there are other people involved in the crash.
Crews shut down the highway for about four hours, causing heavy traffic and delays for drivers. Around 50 cars waited to enter the highway.
At this time, CHP officials are still investigating the accident.
