2-Year-Old Eli Souza Dies after Struck by Pickup Truck on Still Road near Wolf Road

 
HIGGINS CORNER, CA (May 9, 2022) – Eli Souza died after being hit by a vehicle in a Nevada County driveway on Wednesday morning.
 
The accident happened around 9:00 a.m. on May 4, along Still Road just west of Wolf Road. The area is located just west of Highway 49 near the community of Higgins Corner.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, 68-year-old David Souza was driving a 1999 Ford F-250 when he struck the 2-year-old from Grass Valley.
 
Family members rushed the boy to Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital, where the victim succumbed to his injuries.
 
Drugs or alcohol are not suspected to be a factor and no arrests have been made, according to the CHP. Further investigation is underway.
