Three-Vehicle Accident on Highway 99 in Yuba City Kills 93-Year-Old Woman

 
YUBA CITY, CA (November 12, 2021) – An elderly woman died in a three-vehicle accident on Highway 99 in Yuba City Wednesday morning.
 
The accident happened around 9:30 a.m. on November 10, at Steward Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 93-year-old woman was driving a 2018 Toyota south on the highway when she entered the left turn lane as she approached Stewart Road.
 
At the same time, 24-year-old Alicia Whitmore of Sacramento was driving a 2016 Mazda north on Highway 99 in the second lane, south of the Stewart Road intersection.
 
The driver of the Toyota failed to yield to oncoming traffic and made a left turn. She then collided with the Mazda and a 2005 Lexus, driven by 27-year-old John Fletcher of Sacramento.
 
As a result, the elderly woman suffered significant injuries. Paramedics rushed her to Adventist Health/Rideout, where she later died.
 
Whitmore suffered moderate injuries, while Fletcher escaped injury.
 
Drugs and alcohol were not suspected to be a factor in the crash and all three drivers were wearing seat belts. The investigation is ongoing.
