Edward Torres Detained in Police Pursuit on Highway 99 near Avenue 20 1/2

 
MADERA COUNTY, CA (August 14, 2024) — Edward Torres faces charges following a police chase on Highway 99 near Avenue 20 1/2.
 
According to the Madera County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened Tuesday. The Madera County Narcotic Enforcement Team (MADNET) tried to locate and arrest 28-year-old Torres who had an active felony warrant for violating terms of his post-release community supervision. Upon spotting him drive a stolen car in Chowchilla, they tried to stop him.
 
However, the Madera man fled the scene, and a pursuit unfolded. Subsequently, officers terminated the pursuit after he nearly collided with multiple vehicles while driving into oncoming traffic. After driving through orchards, the CHP took over the chase and performed a PIT maneuver to stop his car.
 
The car came to a stop and although he tried to flee on foot, Torres was arrested by officers.
 
Reports did not say that a crash occurred at all during the chase. However, if anyone has more to add to this incident, please call the CHP.
