Bicyclist Dies after Struck by Vehicle on Boyles Avenue in Clearlake, Teen Driver Arrested

 
CLEARLAKE, CA (January 29, 2023) – Edward Quinones was killed in a bicycle crash in southeast Clearlake on January 17.
 
The fatal crash happened around 5:45 p.m. on Boyles Avenue near 26th Avenue. According to the Clearlake Police Department, a blue Toyota Tundra struck Quinones who was riding his bicycle in the area.
 
The impact caused Quinones fatal injuries and he died at the scene. He was a 48-year-old Clearlake resident.
 
The driver of the vehicle, 18-year-old Johnny Leon-Rojas of Santa Rosa, was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter. Police booked him into the Lake County jail.
 
According to Lake County records Monday, he was no longer in custody.
