Vehicle Involved in Police Chase Rear-Ends Truck in Crash on 5 Freeway in Los Angeles

 
LOS ANGELES, CA (November 19, 2021) – Paramedics sent a DUI suspect to the hospital following a rear-end crash on 5 Freeway on November 16.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened near Broadway around 5:41 PM.
 
Based on an initial report, CHP officers received a call about a 2021 GMC Denali pickup truck traveling erratically on the lanes. When they attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver increased her speed and led officers into a high-speed chase through Mission Hills, Burbank, and Glendale. Subsequently, the GMC rear-ended a truck near Broadway.
 
As a result, the 43-year-old Valencia woman suffered serious injuries in the incident. Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department responded and performed life-saving measures before sending the victim to the hospital.
 
Officers closed the freeway on both sides in the vicinity of the crash for clearing and rescue operations.
 
Police determined DUI as a factor in the incident. At this point, the crash is still under investigation.
