DUI Driver Killed by Police Car on Highway 101 in Burlingame

 
BURLINGAME, CA (April 8, 2021) — A DUI driver was killed by a police car on Highway 101 near Highway 92 after he tried fleeing from a traffic stop Tuesday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, CHP officers had pulled over the man around 10:40 p.m. However, as they tried conducting a sobriety field test, the 26-year-old took off.
 
Per reports, the man left his Honda Civic behind and ran across the southbound lanes. Subsequently, he went into the center divider and the northbound lanes where an oncoming deputy’s SUV struck him.
 
The suspect died in the accident. However, the deputy survived the crash unharmed.
 
At this time, police believe the driver was under the influence at the time. However, if anyone has more information to add on this accident, please contact the CHP.
