Driver, Officer Hurt After Vehicle Collides With Police Car on Fifth Avenue in Redwood City

 
REDWOOD CITY, CA (May 19, 2022) — A driver and an officer suffered injuries after a driver crashed into a patrol car on Fifth Avenue at Bay Road on Tuesday afternoon.
 
According to the South San Francisco Police Department, the two-vehicle accident happened around 2:25 p.m. at a four-way stop sign. For unknown reasons, a driver heading southbound on Bay Road failed to stop at the stop sign and broadsided a patrol vehicle heading westbound on Fifth Avenue.
 
The driver of the car immediately stopped and cooperated with the investigation. Soon after, emergency personnel reached the scene and shuttled the officer and driver to a hospital with minor to moderate injuries.
 
At this time, police do not suspect DUI to have played a part in the accident. Although, officers plan to look into this case more closely.
