Three-Vehicle Accident on Highway 101 in Buellton Kills One
BUELLTON, CA (February 2, 2021) – A driver suffering from heart attack died after a three-vehicle accident on Highway 101 Friday evening.
The three-vehicle accident happened just after 7:00 p.m. near an area dubbed Twin Oaks. The location is approximately 2 miles north of the Highway 101 at Highway 154.
According to the California Highway Patrol, one of the cars flipped over onto its side off the highway and into a tree. The driver lost consciousness while in the vehicle following the crash.
Paramedics rendered aid to the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials believe the driver was at least 60 years old.
First responders cut out the windshield of the car to free the passenger and took her to Marian Regional Hospital in Santa Maria with major injuries.
A passing motorist took the other driver to Santa Ynez Cottage Hospital with unspecified injuries.
CHP officials are still investigating thing this three-vehicle accident.
