Driver Dies in Sunol Overturned Crash on 680 Freeway

 
SUNOL, CA (August 23, 2021) — A driver died in an overturned crash on the 680 Freeway near Andrade Road Saturday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal incident happened at approximately 1:00 a.m. For unknown reasons, a driver of a 2000 Honda slammed into an embankment and flipped over. Subsequently, three other cars struck the overturned Honda along the freeway.
 
Due to the nature of the crash, the driver, whose identity has not been made public, suffered fatal injuries. Meanwhile, authorities closed all northbound lanes for less than an hour before reopening them just shy of 2:00 a.m.
