Fatal Santa Ysabel Head-On Accident on Highway 79

 
SANTA YSABEL, CA (January 26, 2021) — A head-on accident on Highway 79 near Highway 76 left a 62-year-old driver dead Monday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened before 9:00 a.m. For unknown reasons, a 2018 Ford T250 van veered from the southbound to the northbound lanes. Subsequently, the van struck an oncoming 2007 Ford F450 truck head-on.
 
As a result, the van driver died at the scene. However, the victim’s name has been withheld pending family notification.
 
As for the second driver, paramedics transported the patient to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido with minor injuries.
 
The authorities have yet to establish what drove the crash, but they have ruled out intoxication as a contributing source. As a result, anyone with information on this head-on accident should call the police.
