Fiery Car Accident on 91 Freeway in Corona Kills Drive

 
CORONA, CA (February 14, 2022) – A driver died in a fiery accident on 91 Freeway in Corona on Wednesday evening.
 
The accident happened around 10:00 p.m. on February 9 just west of Green River Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the victim was driving a Toyota Camry when his car suddenly broke down along the westbound freeway.
 
The driver of a Toyota Highlander also traveling in the westbound fast lane was apparently unable to brake. The SUV slammed into the rear of the sedan, causing the Camry to burst into flames.
 
Corona Fire Department crews arrived within minutes and knocked down the blaze, but the driver of the Camry died at the scene.
 
The two occupants of the SUV were able to avoid the flames, but suffered unspecified non-life-threatening injuries. Paramedics took them to a hospital for treatment.
 
CHP officials are still investigating the accident. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
