Driver Dies in Piru Car Accident on Highway 126
PIRU, CA (March 19, 2021) — A driver was killed in a car accident on Highway 126 near Center Street Monday morning.
According to reports, the fatal accident happened around 5:20 a.m. on the eastbound highway. For unknown reasons, a driver in a Ford pickup truck veered from the westbound lane to the eastbound lane. There, an eastbound 2016 Freightliner broadsided the Ford, resulting in a fire.
Following the accident, paramedics arrived and pronounced the Ford driver dead at the scene. Reports have not released the identity of the victim at this time.
While detectives investigated the crash, First Responders transported the big rig driver to Santa Paula hospital with minor injuries.
At this time, the cause of the accident remains unclear. However, if witnesses have more information, please contact the CHP.
