Hit-and-Run Crash on 880 in Oakland Flips Big Rig Killing the Driver

 
OAKLAND, CA (December 4, 2022) – A driver was killed in a big rig hit-and-run crash on 880 Freeway in Oakland early Friday morning on December 2.
 
The fatal crash happened around 1:00 a.m. near Broadway. According to the California Highway Patrol, a white Ford Crown Victoria sedan and a dark-colored sedan were speeding southbound on the freeway when the white car tried to pass the International big rig. It then slammed into the driver’s side of the truck.
 
The big rig hit the highway barrier, flipped over and caught fire. The truck driver was unable to escape the cabin and died at the scene.
 
Another vehicle then picked up the driver of the white Ford and fled the scene.
 
At this time, the CHP was unable to provide any information about a potential suspect. Further investigation is underway.
