LAKE ELSINORE, CA (June 25, 2021) – A driver sustained injuries in a big rig accident on 15 Freeway, Wednesday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 10:55 a.m. Due to unknown circumstances, a Toyota Camry slammed into the rear of a semi-truck near Nichols Road.
 
The impact of the crash trapped the sedan driver in the wrecked vehicle. Crews from the Riverside County Fire Department responded to free the driver. Then, an ambulance transported the victim to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar with unspecified injuries.
 
Meanwhile, the truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
 
Emergency responders reportedly shut down the northbound slow lane to make way for clearing operations.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
