MODESTO, CA (January 20, 2022) — A driver suffered major injuries in a DUI crash on Tuolumne Boulevard at Highway 99 on Sunday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 8:00 p.m. For possible DUI-related reasons, a driver of a Honda struck a raised sidewalk, causing the 38-year-old to lose control of the vehicle.
 
Subsequently, the car overturned and ejected the driver from the cabin. As the driver landed in a ditch, his vehicle came to rest on its side pinning him underneath.
 
Shortly after, a Good Samaritan came to the scene and tried pushing the vehicle onto its wheels to free the driver.
 
At this time, the victim remains hospitalized with major injuries, and officers believe alcohol played a factor in this accident. However, they plan to pursue charges against him once he is medically cleared.
