Cement Truck Overturns after Rear-End Accident on 5 Freeway near Clairemont Drive

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (August 23, 2021) – A driver sustained injuries in a cement truck accident on 5 Freeway, Wednesday evening.
 
According to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, the incident happened on August 18, at about 10:45 p.m. A car reportedly hit the rear of the cement truck.
 
The impact of the collision caused the truck to veer off the freeway, flip over, and slam into a tree. Witnesses rushed to help the truck driver out of the vehicle.
 
Emergency crews then transported the truck driver to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
 
As per reports, the crash caused a diesel spill. A hazardous materials crew later arrived to clear the scene.
 
Officers continue to investigate the cause of the accident.
