Driver Airlifted after Car Crash on D Street near 15 Freeway

 
VICTORVILLE, CA (February 2, 2022) — A driver suffered injuries in a car accident on D Street at around 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday, February 1.
 
The collision happened when a classic pickup truck crashed into the back of a semi along the 16300 block of D Street near the 15 Freeway.
 
Victorville City Firefighters rushed to the scene. They found the driver still inside the light blue Dodge with major front-end damage.
 
Firefighters asked for a helicopter to airlift the 68-year-old male to a trauma center. They reported that they needed extrication to remove him.
 
Mercy Air 2 accepted the flight and flew the patient to Loma Linda University Medical Center with unknown injuries.
 
Officials closed the westbound lanes of D Street which caused traffic to back up. The roadway reopened at around 1:45 pm.
 
The Victorville Police Department handles the investigation of the incident.
