SAN DIEGO, CA (September 21, 2021) — A driver hit and killed by a car on the 5 Freeway near the 8 Freeway was reportedly crossing the freeway after a rollover accident.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal accident happened around 9:00 p.m. Sunday. For unknown reasons, a 26-year-old man from Bonita lost control of his pickup and overturned. Subsequently, he exited his vehicle, which came to a stop on its wheels in the No. 2 lane.
 
He then proceeded to cross the center divider into the northbound lanes, where an Acura sedan struck and killed him.
 
Following the accident, the 31-year-old La Jolla man pulled over and waited for authorities.
