Driver Killed in Head-On Accident with Big Rig on Vasco Road in Contra Costa County

 
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (February 28, 2023) — A driver died in a head-on crash with a big rig on Vasco Road near Camino Diablo.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal two-vehicle collision happened around 4:19 a.m. Monday. For an unknown reason, a driver of a southbound Ford Fusion crossed over the center line and into oncoming traffic. The vehicle subsequently struck a tractor-trailer heading in the opposite direction.
 
The driver of the Ford perished at the scene, and the driver of the big rig was unharmed.
 
Arriving CHP officers closed Vasco Road in both directions and issued a SigAlert between Byron and Livermore for multiple hours. Information about this crash or the factors leading to it was unavailable. However, if anyone has more to add, please call the CHP in Martinez at 925-646-4980.
