TARZANA, CA (March 31, 2021) — The authorities arrested a driver involved in a pursuit crash on 101 Freeway Wednesday night in the area of Tarzana.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened near the Tampa Avenue off-ramp.
 
The CHP reported that officers spotted the driver speeding on the highway at about 7:50 p.m. However, it was not immediately clear where the pursuit began.
 
The driver eventually lost control of the vehicle, causing it to hit a power pole and a transformer. It subsequently overturned and then caught fire.
 
The officers said the power pole was knocked on its side nearby. Meanwhile, the car came to rest on its roof on top of at least one other vehicle.
 
Firefighters swiftly extinguished the car fire. The officers, meantime, took custody of the driver whose name remains undisclosed.
 
CHP reported that the Tampa Avenue off-ramp was shut down at about 8:40 p.m. No further details were immediately available.
