19-Year-Old Daughter of Author Michael Lewis Dies in California Head-On Crash

 
PLACER COUNTY, CA (May 29, 2021)Dixie Lewis died in a head-on accident on a highway near Truckee Tuesday afternoon, May 25.
 
The accident happened around 3:30 p.m. on Highway 89, which connects Truckee to Tahoe City, north of Cabin Creek Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 19-year-old victim was a passenger in a 2014 Ford Fusion, driven by her boyfriend, 20-year-old Ross Schultz.
 
The two were traveling northbound when their car crossed the center line and collided head-on into a southbound Freightliner truck, driven by a 45-year-old man from Fernley, Nevada.
 
As a result, Lewis died at the scene along with Schultz.
 
The truck driver sustained minor injuries.
 
The two victims were recent Berkeley High School graduates. Also, Lewis was one of the three children of author Michael Lewis and photographer Tabitha Soren.
 
Alcohol and drug use are not suspected at this time. The cause of the deadly accident remains under investigation.
 
Investigators asked anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact the CHP’s office at 530-563-9200.
