Diego Valencia Killed in Two-Vehicle Accident on 5 Freeway [Castaic, CA]

23-Year-Old Man Dies after Crash with Another Car on 5 Freeway in Castaic

 
CASTAIC, CA (February 25, 2022) – Diego Valencia was killed in a two-vehicle accident on 5 Freeway in Castaic on Tuesday evening.
 
The accident happened around 10:10 p.m. on February 22 just south of Highway 126. According to the California Highway Patrol, Valencia was driving a 2002 Volkswagen Golf when he crashed into the center median concrete barrier. The car then came to rest, perpendicular in the roadway.
 
Moments later, a 2019 Hyundai Ioniq then crashed into the left side of the Volkswagen.
 
As a result of the crash, Valencia suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was a 23-year-old Castaic resident, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
 
The 42-year-old Sylmar man driving the Hyundai sustained minor injuries.
 
At this time, the circumstances surrounding the accident remain under investigation.
