Detron Williams and Mistie Upchurch Injured in Deadly Head-On Crash

 
IMPERIAL COUNTY, CA (May 4, 2021) — Detron Williams and Mistie Upchurch were injured in a fatal head-on accident on Highway 98 near Holdridge Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly crash happened around 12:30 p.m. For unknown reasons, 41-year-old Williams allowed his eastbound Lincoln vehicle to travel into the westbound lanes. There, his vehicle collided with a Pontiac driver, who tried to take evasive action to avoid the imminent accident.
 
As a result, the 83-year-old Calexico man driving the Pontiac died. Williams and his 23-year-old passenger, Upchurch, suffered minor to major injuries. Not long after the collision, paramedics brought Upchurch to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment.
 
At this time, investigators have not confirmed the ultimate cause of the accident. However, if anyone has more information, please contact the CHP.
