Motorcyclist Dies after Hitting Teen in Corning

 
CORNING, CA (September 19, 2022) – 71-year-old Corning resident Dennis Wayne Nickell was killed in a motorcycle accident in Corning on Saturday morning, September 17.
 
The accident happened around 11:32 a.m. in the 600 block of North Street. According to the Corning Police Department, Nickell was riding his motorcycle eastbound on North Street when he crashed into a 17-year-old pedestrian who was crossing the road in an unsafe way.
 
The impact of the crash caused Nickell fatal injuries and he died at the scene, according to the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office.
 
The teen was taken to a hospital in stable condition. He appears to have a broken ankle and a large cut on the left side of his face.
 
Police said speed was a factor in the crash, but an investigation is still ongoing.
