Car Crashes into Pole in Fatal Accident on Monroe Street in Indio

 
INDIO, CA (March 15, 2021) – Police identified Debra Nelson as the victim who died in a car accident on Monroe Street on March 9.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Highway 111 at approximately 10:45 PM.
 
Based on a report, Nelson was a passenger in a Dodge Dart that collided with a power pole. However, officials did not release the details that led to the accident.
 
As a result, 18-year-old Nelson died at the scene. The driver of the vehicle left after the crash and is still at-large as of today.
 
Consequently, crews said the force from the collision temporarily cut power to about 250 Imperial Irrigation District customers.
 
At this point, officials are still looking for the driver who is wanted on suspicion of felony hit-and-run. In addition, the case remains under investigation by Indio police.
