Former Fillmore Fire Volunteer David Brown Dead in Car Accident

 
FILLMORE, CA (June 3, 2021) – Authorities identified 39-year-old David Brown of Fillmore as the victim killed in a car accident on Sycamore Road, late Sunday afternoon.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 4:55 p.m. For reasons still under investigation, an eastbound 2015 Nissan veered off the road. Then, the vehicle slammed into a wooden utility pole near Barnard Road.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the driver, Brown, dead at the scene. Brown was a volunteer with the Fillmore Fire Department until 2017.

Meanwhile, his 27-year-old male passenger suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Ventura County Medical Center. Authorities did not release the name of the injured victim.
 
Responders temporarily closed Sycamore Road for at least three hours to make way for clearing operations and an investigation.
 
CHP continues to investigate the fatal accident. Investigators ask witnesses to call Officer Steve Lutzke at (805) 662-2640.
