Daniel Deleon Killed in Garbage Truck Accident on 215 Freeway near University Parkway

 
SAN BERNARDINO, CA (November 23, 2022) — 59-year-old Daniel Deleon, of San Bernardino, died in a garbage truck crash on Monday, November 21.
 
According to California Highway Patro, at around 5:52 a.m., Deleon walked in the intersection of University Parkway and the southbound 215 Freeway onramp. Then a Burrtec Waste Disposal truck hit him.
 
Rescue crews responded to the scene and found the pedestrian unconscious in front of the onramp entrance. They administered CPR on the man. However, he still succumbed to his injuries. They pronounced him dead at the scene at around 6:05 a.m.
 
CHP said the garbage truck driver immediately stopped and called 911. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.
 
California Highway Patrol Inland Office continues to determine the cause of the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
