27-Year-Old Man Dies after Struck by Pickup Truck while Stopped on Highway 99 in Selma

 
SELMA, CA (October 26, 2021) – Daniel Davis was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 99 in Selma Monday afternoon.
 
The accident happened around 4:00 p.m. on October 25, along the northbound highway at Floral Avenue off-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 27-year-old victim from Merced was stopped in the center median of Highway 99 for unknown reasons.
 
A 65-year-old man from Warner Springs was driving a silver Ford pickup truck pulling a trailer northbound on Highway 99. While approaching slowed traffic, he swerved into the center median to avoid crashing into the car in front of him, but crashed into the stopped vehicle in the median.
 
Davis, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene.
 
The CHP said there was heavy rainfall at the time of the crash. An investigation into this fatal crash is ongoing.
