Authorities ID Pomona Man Killed in Crash on 57 Freeway in San Dimas

 
SAN DIMAS, CA (March 12, 2021) – Authorities identified the man who died in a car accident Tuesday morning on 57 Freeway south of Covina Boulevard.
 
According to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office, 19-year-old Cristian Alexander Herrera Lopez of Pomona died at the scene.
 
Around 11:20 a.m. on March 9, Lopez was driving a 1995 Honda Civic on the right shoulder of the freeway. He was traveling at a high rate of speed when his car crashed into the trailer portion of a 2016 Freightliner big rig that was parked on the right shoulder.
 
The impact killed Lopez. The trucker did not sustain any injuries.
 
CHP officials said alcohol and/or drugs did not play a role in the crash. They asked anyone with further information to call the CHP’s Baldwin Park Area office at 626-338-1164.
