Cody Atchley Dies in Stolen Motorcycle Crash on Lyon Avenue at Florida Avenue

 
HEMET, CA (May 10, 2022) — Cody Atchley died in a stolen motorcycle accident on Lyon Avenue at Florida Avenue on Thursday morning.
 
According to the city of Hemet Police Department, the fatal motorcycle crash happened around 10:30 a.m. Upon seeing a man ride a green motorcycle westbound through an intersection without stopping at a stop sign, an officer began to pursue the rider. Although, despite the officer having his lights and sirens on, the green stolen Kawasaki Ninja motorbike accelerated.
 
Bearing northbound and coasting through Acacia Avenue without slowing down, the motorcyclist, later identified as Atchley, subsequently collided with a PT Cruiser driving westbound on Florida Avenue. Due to the impact, Atchley was ejected from the point of impact and landed on a gray Ford in the southbound lane of Lyon Avenue. Meanwhile, the PT Cruiser veered into the No. 2 lane and crashed into a gray Hyundai.
 
As a result of the crash, 35-year-old Atchley suffered fatal injuries at Hemet Global Medical Center while the other driver reported only wrist pain.
