25-Year-Old Man Dies after Crashing Back of Trailer on McHenry Avenue in Modesto

 
MODESTO, CA (September 9, 2021) – Clavey Carlson died in a rear-end accident on McHenry Avenue in Modesto Tuesday evening.
 
The accident happened around 9:10 p.m. on September 7, just south of Kiernan Avenue. CHP officials said Carlson was driving a Subaru southbound, approaching a van and a trailer.
 
The Subaru hit the back of the trailer, causing it to break free from the van. The van continued in a southwesterly direction and left the roadway, overturning at least once.
 
The Subaru also left the west side of the roadway and crashed into a utility pole, shearing it at the base, CHP officials said.
 
As a result of the crash, Carlson suffered fatal injuries and died at Doctors Medical Center. He was a 25-year-old Modesto resident, according to the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office.
 
The driver of the van, 43-year-old Damien McGee, had minor injuries.
 
At this time, it is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
