37-Year-Old Man Dies after Struck by Fresno Police Patrol Vehicle at Shields Avenue and Bond Street

 
FRESNO, CA (January 9, 2023) – Christopher Walker was hit and killed by a patrol vehicle in Fresno Thursday evening on January 5.
 
The fatal crash happened just before 7:00 p.m. in the area of Shields Avenue and Bond Street. According to the Fresno Police Department, Walker was walking southbound on the center median on Shields Avenue when he stepped out into the roadway.
 
A Fresno police officer’s patrol vehicle ended up hitting Walker.
 
Walker suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was 37 years old. He was wearing dark clothing and it appears to have been raining at the time of the crash, police said.
 
The involved officer, who has been with the department for 7 to 10 years, was described as a seasoned, veteran officer with a solid reputation. They will be questioned and will have blood drawn as part of the investigation.
