Christian Cortez Detained after Hit-and-Run Accident in Merced

 
MERCED, CA (April 15, 2021) — Christian Cortez faces charges in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on 16th Street at H Street.
 
According to the Merced Police Department, the accident happened around 3:30 a.m. Under unclear circumstances, Cortez struck a 75-year-old man who was using a walker. However, Cortez left the scene in his yellow Ford Mustang, leaving the elder with a cut to his head and lying near the gutter.
 
A day after, officers became successful in identifying a yellow Ford Mustang that struck the elder. Soon after, police officers found Cortez at his home where he admitted to driving the car at the time of the accident. Police booked him into the Merced County jail for felony hit-and-run.
