2 Year Old Girl Dies in Car Accident on Estancia near lower Peters Canyon Trail

IRVINE, CA (August 17, 2022) — A toddler died after an Amazon delivery van struck her in a tragic car accident on Estancia on Tuesday, August 16.

According to the Irvine Police Department and the Orange County Fire Authority, they responded to a call about a crash just after 3:30 p.m.

The incident happened in the parking lot of an apartment complex on the 300 block of Estancia, near lower Peters Canyon Trail.

Police said the 23-month-old girl sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. Officials have not released her identity.

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities, according to Irvine Police Department Sgt. Karie Davies. Police noted that a third-party contractor operates the Amazon van.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. However, investigators do not believe intoxication is a factor.
