Cesario Nepomuceno Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Highway 99 [Turlock, CA]

Man Dies after Struck by Sedan on Highway 99 at West Taylor Road

 
TURLOCK, CA (November 24, 2021) – Cesario Nepomuceno was killed in a pedestrian accident on Highway 99 in Turlock Sunday afternoon.
 
The fatal accident happened around 1:40 p.m. on November 21, along the southbound highway at the West Taylor Road off-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, Nepomuceno was trying to run across the highway when a white 2003 Lincoln Town Car struck him.
 
The Lincoln, driven by 38-year-old Humberto Gonzalez of Turlock, was traveling at approximately 70 mph. There was also a 17-year-old male passenger in the car.
 
Gonzalez attempted to avoid the collision by hitting his brakes and turning to the left. However, the right front of the Lincoln struck Nepomuceno, propelling him into the air.
 
Nepomuceno landed on the asphalt in the center median and died at the scene. He was a 22-year-old Merced resident, according to the coroner’s office.
 
Neither Gonzalez nor his passenger sustained any injuries.
 
At this time, it is unknown if drugs or alcohol contributed to this fatal crash. An investigation is ongoing.
