Cesar Gonzalez Facing Charges after Stolen Vehicle Accident on Palm Street near Real Road

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (February 28, 2022) – Two people sustained injuries following a stolen vehicle accident on Palm Street, Wednesday evening.
 
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the incident happened on February 23 at about 8:50 p.m. Officers attempted to pull over a reported stolen vehicle in the area of Highway 99 and California Avenue.
 
However, the driver failed to stop the vehicle and fled going the wrong way on Highway 99.
 
A short time later, the wrong-way vehicle exited at California Avenue. Then, the vehicle crashed into a power pole at Palm Street and Real Road.
 
The impact of the crash caused the vehicle to burst into flames.
 
Emergency crews transported the driver and his passenger to a hospital for treatment of unspecified leg injuries.
 
Investigators later identified the driver as 32-year-old Cesar Gonzalez. Once released from the hospital, Gonzalez will be arrested on charges of auto theft, felony evading, an unrelated felony arrest warrant, and other pursuit charges.
