Carmen Chavira Dies in Fresno Pedestrian Accident on Millbrook Avenue

 
FRESNO, CA (March 30, 2021) — A pedestrian died after an accident on Millbrook Avenue near McKinley Avenue Thursday night.
 
Fresno County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 76-year-old Carmen Torres Chavira. Chavira was outside of the crosswalk area about 10:15 p.m. when the collision occurred.
 
Police say the victim was in the eastbound lanes near North Millbrook Avenue when he was hit by the driver. However, the driver stopped and cooperated with police.
 
The driver did not appear to be impaired. However, agreed to submit to an alcohol test. Police will also use toxicology evidence to determine whether Chavira was under the influence.
 
At this time, the cause of the accident is under investigation. However, those with information should contact the Fresno Police.
