Lake Elsinore Car Accident on Highway 74; Emanuel Esparzaa and Carlos Zuniga Die

 
LAKE ELSINORE, CA (April 20, 2022) – Two people died in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 74 and Hammack Avenue northeast of Lake Elsinore on Sunday, April 10.
 
Officials identified the victims as 21-year-old Emanuel Esparza and 26-year-old Carlos Zuniga, both of Perris, according to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.
 
According to the Riverside County Fire Department, two vehicles collided head-on for unknown reasons at about 2:15 a.m.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the victims were involved in a crash involving two sedans, but the circumstances were still under investigation.
 
Both Zuniga and Esparza were pronounced dead at the scene by Riverside County Fire Department paramedics.
 
In addition, paramedics transported two other patients to hospitals, one with major injuries and the other with minor injuries.
 
Officials shut down the highway at the location for three hours while the wreckage cleared.
 
Authorities believe speed played a role in the crash. However, police are conducting an investigation.
