Police Arrest Jesus Garcia for DUI after Crash in Dos Palos Killing 2 People
DOS PALOS, CA (June 3, 2022) – Carlos Rocha and Jesse Robles were killed in a DUI crash in Dos Palos on Wednesday afternoon, June 1.
The fatal crash happened around 4:00 p.m. on Highway 33 at Cypress Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, 28-year-old Jesus Garcia of Dos Palos was driving a 2004 Hyundai south on the highway approaching Cypress when he lost control. The car then crashed into a power pole and burst into flames.
Garcia was able to get out from the burning car.
Rocha, a 22-year-old Dos Palos resident, and Robles, 30, were passengers in the car. They were unable to escape and both died at the scene.
Officers determined that Garcia was under the influence at the time of the crash. They arrested him for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and DUI causing injury or death.
The coroner’s office only described the victims as both men. They will release their identities once family members are properly notified.
Further investigation is underway.
