Carlos Lopez-Merendon Hospitalized in Deadly Head-On Accident on Aten Road near Forrester Road

 
EL CENTRO, CA (February 15, 2022) — Carlos Lopez-Merendon suffered minor injuries in a fatal head-on accident on Aten Road near Forrester Road on Sunday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal head-on accident happened around 8:20 a.m. For unknown reasons, an unidentified 77-year-old man driving a 2003 Honda veered from the eastbound to the westbound lane.
 
Subsequently, the man’s car crossed into the path of an oncoming 2021 Dodge, driven by 35-year-old Lopez-Merendon.
 
Subsequently, both cars collided in a head-on fashion, causing minor injuries to Lopez-Merendon and fatal injuries to the Honda driver.
 
At this time, the identity of the fatal victim and the ultimate cause of the crash have not been released at this time. However, officers believe drugs or alcohol may have played a factor.
