Andres Hernandez Detained after Carl Lujan Dies in Echo Park DUI Accident

 
ECHO PARK, CA (November 22, 2021) — Carl Lujan died after being struck by a DUI driver on Temple Street at Edgeware Road on November 4.
 
According to Los Angeles police, the fatal incident happened around 4:00 a.m. For DUI-related reasons, 30-year-old Andres Hernandez was speeding down Temple Street and crashed into a bench where 52-year-old Lujan was sitting.
 
Subsequently, the impact allegedly threw Lujan 250 feet in the air, where he landed on the shoulder of the southbound 101 Freeway. Soon after, Los Angeles Fire department paramedics responded and pronounced him dead.
 
Meanwhile, police canvassed the scene for details and later arrested Hernandez, of Norwalk, for DUI and vehicular manslaughter. At this time, information as to the outstanding details requires additional investigation. Anyone with details should contact the police.
