Caltrans Worker Suffers Major Injuries after Hit by Own Truck on 8 Freeway in El Cajon

 
EL CAJON, CA (May 1, 2023) – A Caltrans worker was seriously injured after being hit by a truck on 8 Freeway in El Cajon Thursday morning on April 27.
 
The Caltrans worker was working outside his parked truck when a Chevrolet pickup truck veered over and hit his truck around 10:25 a.m. His truck then ran into him.
 
Paramedics transported the worker to a hospital with major but non-life-threatening injuries.
 
The driver of the pickup suffered minor injuries but declined being taken to the hospital and said he would seek medical aid on his own. He was released at the scene.
 
The crash shut down all westbound lanes of the freeway for about three hours. The lanes reopened just before 1:30 p.m.
 
An investigation is ongoing.
