Authorities Identify Chula Vista Man Killed in Mobility Scooter Accident

 
CHULA VISTA, CA (February 26, 2021) – Authorities identified the man who died in a scooter accident Wednesday morning in Chula Vista.
 
The accident happened just before 10:00 a.m., February 24, on Oxford Street near Fourth Avenue.
 
Police 86-year-old Byungsun Han of Chula Vista was riding a mobility scooter across the roadway when an eastbound vehicle struck him. The impact ejected Han onto the roadway.
 
A witness who called 911 told officers that Han landed under a parked vehicle.
 
Medics started CPR before taking Han to UC San Diego Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 11:10 a.m.

The involved driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with investigators.

The Chula Vista Police Department’s traffic bureau is investigating the accident.
