Two-Vehicle Accident on Highway 18 in Apple Valley Kills 86-Year-Old Man

 
APPLE VALLEY, CA (January 25, 2023) – Byron Weekly was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 18 in Apple Valley Sunday morning on January 22.
 
The accident happened around 6:03 a.m. at the intersection with Flathead Road. According to the Apple Valley Fire Department, Weekly was driving a red 2016 Kia Sorento northbound on Flathead Road approaching the highway. At the same time, a black 2015 Dodge Challenger was heading westbound on the highway approaching Flathead Road.
 
For unknown reasons, one of the vehicles failed to stop at the red traffic light. And the two vehicles collided at the intersection.
 
Responding paramedics rushed Weekly to St. Mary’s Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. He was 86 years old from Apple Valley.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the Dodge only sustained minor injuries.
 
This fatal crash is still under investigation. Authorities asked anyone with further information to contact Deputy R.
